We are excited to announce that a new project has started in Malawi. A month ago, we got the go ahead to start off with building a youth test farm in Ukwe, Lilongwe District. Our local partner organisation Conserve with Benefits, that is responsible for the implementation of the project, has worked hard to mobilise all local stakeholders and has selected 34 youth to start as a first cohort on the farm.
The farm will function as a practical learning centre where youth will be trained in climate smart farming practices. The youth will also be guided in developing their on farming business and teaching finance and business skills will be an important part of the curriculum.
As the rainy season is approaching, the youth are already busy preparing the land on the farm. Also the building of the classroom on the farm has started so that soon the youth have a place to meet and where new skills and techniques can be explained.
For more information on the project visit the project page by clicking here. We will be posting updates of the project on our website and in our newsletter but for the most recent updates on the farm, follow our social media pages.
