There has been a substantial progress on the farm in Malawi. After the harvest of soya and groundnuts, the youth started developing a plan for winter cropping. Under supervision of the farm manager Angellah, the youth are growing tomatoes, onions, green pepper, cabbages and beans. Soon the harvest will be ready and the youth will sell their produce.
The youth have also started preparations for selecting a new cohort that will start next rainy season. Based on the evaluations and lessons learned a new selection procedure is being developed and soon the new youth will be selected.
One of the challenges last year was the poor soil quality and the high prices of manure and fertilizer. Next year livestock will be introduced on the farm to have a supply of manure directly coming from the farm. In addition this will generate more income for the farm.
